Support of unicode characters in NetMan und HAN
The Management Console e.g. doesn't treat foreign language special characters in a uniform manner. During the creation of a configuration, all characters in the corresponding dialog are displayed. In the configuration itself the supported characters are then displayed as "|", and characters that are not supported are apparently changed into the most closely related characters. Thus the display in the HTML View is accordingly wrong.

NetMan and HAN can only correctly display ASCII characters. In the (enlarged) ASCII table e.g. there is the Slavic Š ("S caron") and Ž ("Z caron"), but no "C caron" which is Unicode.
The German umlauts, the ß and, for instance the Spanish Ñ are ASCII characters!

Solution:
Depending on the language used, the language for non-Unicode programs in the advanced regional and language options has to be changed.
Attention! This adjustment requires a server restart!

After the reboot all characters that entered anew will be correctly displayed in the H+H programs.

Hint:
For programs that use different unicode languages it is necessary to use several servers with the appropriate language settings!

If this is not possible you can use UTF-8 code for single chars, e.g. "& #381 ;" (without blanks) for the capital "Z caron". In this case the char would be displayed correctly in HTML-View.

A list of available UTF-8 codes can be found here: http://www.pemberley.com/janeinfo/latin1.html

Unfortunately the available number of chars within the name of a configuration is restricted to 50 which might be a problem for languages such as greek, as every char would have to be encoded here.

An improved char set support for HTML-View is provided by a new mod_nmview.dll for NetMan 3.1.

  • Rename the old ..\Apache2\ resp. \WebSrv\hh\HTML-View\Bin\mod_nmview.dll and copy the new DLL into the same directory.
  • Restart the web service.
