HAN 2 on Windows Server 2008
Special characteristics to be observed under Windows 2008 (32 Bit)

HAN 2 is supported on Windows 2008 (32 Bit). However there are some special characteristics to be observed under this OS:

  1. HAN must not be installed into the program files folder (%ProgramFiles%)! HAN has in its program file folder configuration files that are directly modified. As to the Vista and Windows 2008 policies an application is not allowed to write in directories under this folder anymore.
  2. On activated UAC HAN administrators must have at least writing privilege on the HAN program folder, all subdirectories and files.

As of HAN 2.1.1 the setup does these changes automatically.

The following limitations are known:

  • The trace monitor for console messages is not UAC compatible. It will not show any message if started as (administrative) user.
Workaround: The trace monitor for conosle messages must be started "as administrator". Please use hhtrace.exe for this purpose and switch on View -> Show System Messages, hhtracets.exe does not start "as administrator"!
  • The HAN Administration's Overview always shows zero hits on filtering (solved with HAN 2.3.2).

Note: Windows Server 2008 (64 Bit) is supported as of HAN version 2.3.1!
